Cotopaxi National Park

South of the city of Quito, lays the inter-Andean region of the Andes Mountain Range. Described as The Avenue of the Volcanoes by the famous naturalist and German explorer Alexander Von Humboldt, it holds some of the most impressive extinct and active volcanoes in the world.

Cotopaxi (5897 mts.-19347 ft.) considered to be the highest active volcano in the world welcomes you and will give you a flavor of the cultural and natural wonders of the New World.

Cotopaxi is the second most popular adventure destination in Ecuador as it is full of nature which will leave you with an uplifting experience. It has one of the few equatorial glaciers in the world, which starts at the height of 5,000 meters (16,400 ft) and from its summit, if the climatic conditions are favorable, you can view most of Ecuador´s main peaks.

  • We will go to the heart of the Andean region, which is the home of one of the highest active volcanoes in the world – Cotopaxi (5,897 m.a.s.l. – 19342 ft.) The tour includes a visit to the Limpiopungo lagoon on the slopes of the Rumiñahui volcano. Once in the Cotopaxi, we will reach the refuge camp Jose Rivas optional will be for you  and after taking a rest to walk along the glaciers at an altitude of 5000 mts. (16,400 ft.) above sea level. Afterwards we will make a short visit to the wildlife interpretation center.*In case of the tour to Cotopaxi with lunch, the lunch can be held at the following places: Tambopaxi, Hosteria La Cienega or a similar place.*There is another option for having lunch at Hacienda San Agustin de Callo.

Cotopaxi National Park was created in 1975.  This is one of Ecuador´s most popular parks, as is very close to the City of Quito.  Is dominated by an impressive perfectly cone volcano of 5,897 m.a.s.l. (19,342 ft.). Its snowcapped volcano is Ecuador´s second highest peak and its most popular for mountain climbers.  The Park´s 33,393 hectares are traversed by a series of dirt tracks that provide the opportunity for hiking, mountain biking or horseback riding trips
