Otavalo is one of the most popular indigenous market in Ecuador. Although the main market is on Saturday you can visit it every day.
The surroundings of Otavalo also offer places of unique beauty with lakes, volcanoes and ecological reserves and Tours Unlimited offers daily trips to all of them where you can enjoy nature at its fullest.
Today we will pick you up from your hotel with our private transportation and private bilingual English guide. Will start traveling north of Quito on Panamerica highway, we will cross the small Andean towns such as Guallabamba, Cayambe, cross the equatorial line.
The locals knows as Otavaleños, have been famous for their masterfull craftsmanship, and the artisans market is one of the most important in South America. Otavaleños will be dress in their traditional clothings, keeping their culture along with their music.
Transactions are relaxed, with the tourists always getting a bargain. After visiting the Otavalo market we take you to a nice restaurant for lunch.
After lunch we continue our trip to the village of Cotacachi, which is famous for its traditional handcrafted leather goods and last before heading back to Quito visit Cuicocha Crater Lake.
Cuicocha Lake: Cuicocha is a three kilometer (1.9-mile) wide caldera and crater lake at the foot of Cotacachi Volcano in the Western Cordillera of the Ecuadorian Andes. The lake of gods as it’s known by the locals is an impressive caldera crater lake which can have the status of a potentially active volcano.
